With the TGV and its many public transport networks, France ranks 3rd in the EU in passenger transport by rail. However it remains 22nd in railway freight, far behind some neighbors. By studying the data of road freight in France, plus considering its shape and strategic position within the EU, it could easily rank in a top spot with a good strategy and a good design.
I developed, in trio, the freight trains of tomorrow based on the concept of "Ferroutage" transport (truck transport on trains) to optimize the time and costs of loading and unloading, as well as the network and the infrastructures, allowing us an important modal shift and the best profitability.
This solution is promising and interesting to many, it allowed us to reach the semi-final of the Rail Innovation Challenge of Fer de France.
